Abram's Turn

Since Max got his moment in the spotlight yesterday I thought I'd give Abram a turn. Abram and I teach a Primary Sunday School class for the 6 and 7 year olds at church. Yesterday morning it was his turn to teach and I asked what he was teaching his lesson on. He starts going on and on about how the manual has him teach the same three topics over and over. I suggested that kids learn through repetition and of course his response was, "or brainwashing." Well, later in the day, right before we're going up to primary, he opens the manual to review a little. After a couple minutes he leans over to me and says, "You know how I was saying it seems like I teach the same lesson over and over? Well, that's because I actually have already taught this lesson. I prepared the wrong one."

Abram's other shining moment in Primary happened during sharing time when we are together with all the age groups. Every week they spotlight someone by having everyone stand up and then reading a list of things the person likes. If you don't like it than you sit down. The idea being that the spotlight will be the last one standing. Last week everyone stood up and the first thing she said was, "This person LOVES the outdoors." Before anyone else could even respond, Abram made a loud humph and sat himself right down. It got a good laugh out of everyone since nobody else sat down so it doubled the drama for him.

The following pictures are of Max in the Outer Banks in May. He spent most of the time at the beach running toward the ocean and then turning and running away before the waves could get him. That's what the look of terror is about in photo #2. The last photo is of his buddies Noah and Nikolai and their dads James and Steve.

But how was that cake?

That's the real question, isn't it? That dream of chocolate was courtesy of my friend Marianne (Noah's mom) who I dare say loves food as much as I do and is an amazing cook.

You are too funny. Abram has a GIFT with making people laugh. And all your food is just too delicious. I can't keep all my slobber in! If only I lived with you and you were my cook. Oh, and nanny. :) Ahhh, that would be nice. Speaking of, Jason is going to be in DC the whole month of September and so when I go to see him, I for sure want to see you guys. And the new little one! Have you picked a name yet?
