Christmas is upon us and I need to get into the Spirit. Will all y'all let me know what your favorite Christmas carol is and who's version you like best so I can download them? Thanks!

Hello Kristin - as for christmas carols, i have to say these three are the best

God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen - Barenaked Ladies and Sarah McLachlan

Rudolph the red nose reindeer - Jack Johnson

Mary's Song (Breath of life) - Point of Grace or something like that. Amy Grant sings it as well.

Hope that helps you get in the spirit. :)

love, jamie ps love your blog!

Sarah McLachlan put out a Christmas CD last year called Wintersong, and I really love it. It's not exactly peppy, but it's good. I also like to get into the spirit by playing my John Denver and The Muppets Christmas album! So nostalgic!

It doesn't seem like Christmas to me without a little Mo' Tab'and the "Merry Christmas" Album from Johnny Mathis. He was a favorite of my mom's and I guess I have a lot of great memories associated with it now. Another favorite is "Something Barked on Christmas Morning". No, I'm not kidding. Val can back me up on this. It's from an old vinyl we had growing up that I finally found on ebay last year. Sorry, not available on iTunes.

My kids LOVE that chipmunks christmas song. But beware, it gets truly annoying very fast.
Second on the Johnny Mathis. I love the classic crooners, Bing Crosby and Nat King Cole. Nostalgia all the way. LOVE it.

I heard this song on the radio and had to sit in my car in the parking lot until it finished just to hear it. I've only heard it the one time on the radio, but I found it on itunes. It's called "The Gift" and it's sung by Aselin Debison. You can listen to it on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XODganqCxB8

The whole Elf soundtrack is awesome and jazzy, but I love, love, love the song "Baby it's cold outside".
Also a fan of (don't puke anyone) Mariah Carey's, "All I want for Christmas is you." It's catchy!

Oh Holy night is also awesome.

Oh and also Mariah Careys, "Jesus Oh what a wonderful child" sounds funny, but girl you will find yourself clappin'!

Obviously you don't remember my dance routine with Mom to "Jesus, Oh What a Wonderful Child" a few Christmases back. I too am a huge fan of Mariah Carey's Christmas CD. I'm glad we're on the same page.

I like Jewel's album, Bing Crosby (classic) and Amy Grant. Also, I love "baby it's cold outside" (if that's even the title), even though it's not a christmas carol, per se.

ok, i really hate to bust anyone's christmas snow globe about "baby it's cold outside," but i will. when i worked at the gap (don't tease me, i'm tender), we heard that song at least a million times and then my gap "team mates" thought it was hilarious to call it the date rape song. so sorry, i can't condone that behavior. did that just ruin it for you? sorry. kinda.

i actually have to recant my former "baby it's cold outside" comment. since it was stuck in my head all night long (thanks), i unwittingly was singing it to abram while he sat in his high chair this morning. and of course, song leads to dance, and one thing led to another... he only ate his breakfast while i was performing a routine complete with jazz hands. so it will probably be included in our christmas repertoire afterall.
